Identifying your leadership style

Each data leader needs to find their own way of operating in the leadership space. One key to this is understanding the underlying personal motivations that have brought you to this position. Career Anchors are a useful tool which can identify the drivers you have and lead you towards the best approach to your own leadership. Table 6.1 shows the eight persistent anchors that inform the choices made by individuals.

Technical/functional

These individuals enjoy being good at specific tasks and will work hard to become expert at them. They enjoy challenges and developing the skills to meet them, often relishing being better than others.
